Dakos with Chania-Style Greek Salad

A Greek salad dedicated to Cretan tradition, which can be a hearty and complete meal. A recipe by Vasilis Patsis!

What we will need:

  • 3–4 Organic Carob Rusks
  • 15 colorful cherry tomatoes, halved or quartered
  • 4 baby potatoes, quartered
  • 1–2 boiled eggs, coarsely grated
  • 5 pickled chili peppers
  • 1 Knossos cucumber, diced
  • ½ green pepper, diced
  • 2–3 spring onions, finely chopped
  • 10 olives
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 1–2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • Salt
  • Optional: capers, purslane or parsley, and oregano

Execution:

  1. Place the carob rusks at the base of a bowl, drizzle with about half the olive oil if desired, add a little water, and set aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Arrange the ingredients on top in any order you like and season with salt.
  3. Add the vinegar and finish with the grated eggs, the remaining olive oil, the olives, and oregano.
